A Recreation Program for 9th-12th Graders!
The Recreational Program is geared toward 9–12th grade athletes who are either looking for a fun, low-commitment way to try rowing, or are experienced rowers who can’t commit to the Competitive Team’s 5–6 days per week training and racing schedule at the moment but still want to stay involved in the sport.
The Recreational Program aims to create a supportive and relaxed environment where the focus is helping athletes build, progress, and maintain rowing skills both on and off the water. Athletes stay active through on-land and on-water conditioning while making friends in a casual, low-commitment setting.
Practices will consist of working together as a full team, as well as splitting into groups based on experience to efficiently build foundational rowing skills and technique. Newer rowers will establish their abilities using indoor rowing machines and rowing tanks before joining more experienced athletes on the water in 8- and 4-person shells.
This program is the perfect place for athletes to build rowing confidence, determine whether they enjoy the sport and want to take the next step toward competitive racing, or for returning athletes to stay involved and get back on the water.
Recreational Rowing will be held every Thursday and Friday from Thursday, March 19th through Friday, May 25th.
Trial Dates:
After signing up and paying registrants will have a 2-week trial period (dates listed below) to determine if they would want to join the team for the season. After these trial dates, they would then have to commit to the team or not. If they decide to not to continue, they would be reimbursed.
Full Season & 1st Half of Season: March 19th, 20th, 26th, 27th
2nd Half of Season:
April 23rd, 24th, 30th, May 1st.
