Recreational Rowing

Our Recreational Rowing program offers a fun, low-pressure environment where athletes can stay active, build skills, and make friends. It’s perfect for beginners exploring rowing or returning athletes who want to stay on the water without a high commitment.

Program Highlights:

Beginner-friendly progression from machines/tanks to boats

Builds skills through on-land and on-water training

Small groups based on experience for better instruction

Supportive, low-commitment environment

The Explore Sailing Academy is an engaging, onshore after-school program designed for 3rd-5th graders eager to learn about sailing!

Learn to sail summer camps

Our Sailing Summer Camps for rising 3rd–8th graders offer a fun, safe way for kids to explore the water while building confidence and lifelong skills. From beginners to future racers, every camper learns through hands-on experience on Cleveland’s waterfront.

Program Highlights:

Learn essentials like knots, boat parts, and sailing rules

Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and problem-solving

Practice in stable boats to build confidence

Led by US Sailing–certified instructors

Learn to Sail summer Clinic

Our Learn to Sail Clinic is a great introduction for rising 9th–12th graders to experience sailing on Lake Erie. Students learn the basics in a safe, hands-on environment while sailing the same boats used in high school competition.

Program Highlights:

Sail two-person E420 boats used in high school racing

Learn fundamentals like steering, sail trim, and boat parts

Rain or shine programming with on-water and onshore learning

Fun, beginner-friendly and hands-on instruction

This program is designed for newer sailors learning to race or those transitioning from optis, prams, lasers, and other boats to double-handed, E420 racing boats.

Our Community Sailing programs offer a fun, accessible way for ages 12+ to get out on the water. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, participants build skills, gain confidence, and connect with others in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Option for casual sailing or friendly competition

Rowing 101

Rowing 101 is a structured, beginner-friendly program designed for 6th–12th graders to safely learn the fundamentals of rowing. With guidance from experienced coaches and current Cleveland Foundry Juniors athletes, participants build confidence, discipline, and teamwork skills both on land and on the water.

Program Highlights:

Exposure to sweep rowing, sculling, and coxing

Mentorship from trained coaches and competitive athletes

Builds confidence, teamwork, and athletic foundation for future growth

Focus on safety, proper technique, and skill development

Sculling 101

Intro to Sculling 101 is the next step after Learn to Row 101, designed for athletes ready to build on their fundamentals. In a safe, supportive environment, participants learn the basics of sculling while developing balance, confidence, and proper technique.

Program Highlights:

Designed for athletes who have completed Rowing 101

Focus on sculling (two oars per athlete) fundamentals

Small-group instruction with individualized feedback

Practice in stable boats to build confidence
