
Adult explore Sailing Beginner one
A Beginner Program for Adults!
Step aboard one of The Foundry’s 33-foot sailboats for our Adult Explore Sailing Beginner One course! This course is an introduction to the basic knowledge and skills of sailing. No prior experience is needed. This is a "hands on" series of classes with instruction on land and on water by US Sailing certified coaches. Participants will learn the parts of the boat, points of sail, knot tying, identifying wind direction, and more with the Cleveland skyline as the backdrop! Our experienced instructors focus on safety and fun, so that you leave the course confident on the water and eager to learn more.

What you will learn through our program
Identify and label the key parts of a keelboat
Recall and describe the different points of sail
Properly wrap and use a winch
Tie critical sailing knots: bowline, square knot, figure, clove hitch
Use a tiller to "heads up" and "fall off"
Steer a boat through the "no go zone" to execute a tack
Identify wind direction
Use telltales to determine sail trim
