2026 Thursday NIght Racing Series

Community Sailing Open to Sailors 12 and Up!

The Thursday Racing Series offers fun, social evenings of dinghy racing on Lake Erie, open to sailors ages 12 and up with sailing and racing experience. Held at the Historic Coast Guard Station from 5:30–8:00 PM on Thursdays, this weekly series features relaxed competition on E420s, a drop mark windward-leeward course, and support from The Foundry, including a race committee and professionally maintained sailboats. Participants should arrive between 5:15–5:45 PM to rig, attend a mandatory competitor meeting at 5:45, with the first warning at 6:00 PM and no starts after 7:15 PM. The cost is $40 per boat, with registration reserved for skippers, who must submit crew details in advance; capacity is limited to 12 boats (24 sailors), with a minimum of 6 boats required to run the event. This series is designed for experienced sailors (no formal instruction or crew matching provided), though skilled skippers may train new crew. Sailors ages 12–14 must have a parent or guardian onsite, and all participants must follow safety requirements, including wearing PFDs (and helmets for those under 18). Spectators are welcome to watch from shore, but no personal watercraft or ride-alongs on safety boats are permitted.
