Campus
in the flats
A local non-profit organization located in the flats of Cleveland
Since 2015, the Foundry Community Rowing and Sailing Center has been Cleveland's non-profit center for youth rowing and sailing. The center offers Cuyahoga River rowing programs from its Columbus Road docks and Lake Erie sailing programs from the Historic Coast Guard Station at Whiskey Island and E.55th Street Marina in partnership with Cleveland Metroparks.

Historic coast guard
History
In 2016, Cleveland Metroparks partnered with The Station to create Cleveland's first community sailing center at the Historic Coast Guard Station at Whiskey Island. The Station was built in 1940, abandoned in 1976, and has since remained unused, along with much of Cleveland's waterfront, which was neglected due to industrial focus.
Present Day
Foundry Sailing began at Wendy Park in 2016 and moved to Edgewater Marina in 2017. By mid-September 2017, a state-of-the-art dock system was completed, accommodating 18 dinghies, three J/22s, four Tartan 10s, and the safety boat fleet. Plans for 2026 and beyond include exciting new facilities, dock expansion, more boats, and expanded youth programs to enrich the sailing community and provide unique experiences for Cleveland's youth.
AND INTRODUCING

community sailing center
Building on other investments made in recent years at E. 55th Street and in anticipation of additional community infrastructure investments on Cleveland's eastern lakefront stretch, The Cleveland Metroparks and The Foundry will partner to deliver a state-of-the-art, world class community sailing center.

Dear Friends & Supporters
Transforming the future of our city begins with investing in our community and, more importantly, our children. The Foundry was created with this vision in mind, empowering local youth through the dynamic experience of rowing and sailing. We believe that open access to our great lake and river is a birthright of every child from Cleveland to use and enjoy.
Our programs are designed to instill essential values such as teamwork, communication, perseverance, and confidence, while also promoting fitness. These experiences help children build self-esteem, foster a sense of belonging, and develop resilience. We are deeply committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of economic background, has access to these life-changing experiences through live and in-person interaction, collaboration, and character-building activities.
Thank you for your unwavering support. Together, we can create a lasting impact on our youth and shape a brighter future for our community.
Welcome to The Foundry,
