2024 Summer sailing

The Foundry offers three summer sailing programs, Learn to Sail and Adult Basic Sailing day programs for first timers and the Dinghy Series evening program for those with some experience.

Learn to Sail and Adult Basic Sailing participants will develop a foundation of sailing skills, including boating safety, parts of the boat, terminology, rigging, points of sail and basic boat handling.

 

Learn to sail (youth)

Learn to sail in a safe and fun environment. Participants will develop a foundation of sailing skills, including boating safety, parts of the boat, terminology, rigging, points of sail and basic boat handling.

 

This program is open to students in grades 6th - 12th with no sailing experience to intermediate sailing skills and knowledge. 

 

Camp will be held Monday through Thursday from 1:00pm - 4:30pm.

The cost is 350 per session and is due at registration.

Adult Basic Sailing

This program is for adults 18 and older who are interested in learning the basic knowledge and skills of sailing or those looking to improve their fundamental skills. No prior experience is needed.

This is a "hands on" program with lessons being taught both on land and on water by certified coaches.

Lessons are held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

The cost is 350 per session and is due at registration.

Row in the morning, sail in the afternoon

Participants can also sign up for a full day session, which includes a Learn to Row session in the morning (Monday - Friday) and a Learn to Sail session in the afternoon (Monday - Thursday). Full-day campers may leave after the learn to row session on Friday morning or stay until 4:30 for additional programming (included) at the Columbus Road facility.

 

The Foundry will provide transportation between the Columbus Road rowing facility and the Gordon Park East 72nd Street marina for afternoon sailing. Participants will be dismissed after the Learn to Sail portion of the day from the Gordon Park marina. Participants must bring their own lunch.   

 

The cost is $700 per session and is due at time of registration.

Community racing for experienced Sailors

Join us for the Foundry Dinghy Series--casual community racing and camaraderie on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm during the summer and fall seasons. Bring your own dinghy or use one of ours for a small fee.

The Dinghy Series is open to experienced sailors aged 13 and up. It is NOT part of the Foundry's daytime summer camp offerings.
