Youth Summer 2020 COVID-19 Rowing Programs

Thank you for your interest in our summer programs! As you might have guessed, everything we planned for has changed as our world has, but we know we can safely deliver exciting programming even in this new environment. Please take some time to read through our COVID-19 policies and new program descriptions. There is something for everyone regardless of experience level and interest.

Registration is now open!

We have opened up registration for July and August. More dates may be available in the next few weeks, but we want to be sure we can be responsive to capacity, demand, guidelines and best practices in this ever-changing world.

Please stay tuned for updates on sailing programs and the fitness center.

Learn to Row Camp

ages 12-19

Restructured for the health and safety of our athletes and community, Learn to Row will have a limited capacity this summer and will be conducted in wider single sculling shells. Athletes will learn how to scull (rowing with two oars).

We are maintaining the Learn to Row 9am to noon Monday thru Friday structure as previously advertised. We cannot offer our typical full day option of both Learn to Row and Learn to Sail due to new COVID-19 restrictions on food and transportation. There will still be Learn to Sail opportunities available with The Foundry and will be registered for separately.

**We have added an afternoon option for Learn to Row for the August sessions. These will take place 1pm-4pm**

Athletes who are able to row with a family/household member, please indicate such when you register.

Registration will be limited to four athletes per session.

Learn to Row One Day Clinic

Sessions are for youth athletes. Each session is three hours long and are offered Friday afternoons, Saturday mornings, and Sunday mornings.

Each session will cover safety, basic rowing mechanics utilizing dynamic ergs, and rowing skills on the water in our SUP rowers.

These sessions are designed as an introduction to the sport for athletes with zero or very little experience.

Small Boat Semi-Private Lessons

all ages with one season of rowing experience

90’ sessions Monday thru Friday held throughout the day at our HQ location on the Cuyahoga River. We will offer 8 timeslots daily; register for one of those time slots all week. Athletes will be using single sculling shell boats unless they are able to row with a family/household member in which case they will row in a double sculling shell. Please register for the specific time and boat to be used as indicated in our registration link below. Boats have size/weight restrictions as indicated. Registration will be limited to four shells during one timeslot.

Because of the pandemic, we are opening this program to athletes of all ages who have at least one season of rowing experience. Basic rowing skills are expected. This is not a “learn to row” program. There is a Learn to Row option open to students in middle school and high school during this time.

To our adult rowing friends, if you own your own boat, you can bring that to row in for this program. Perhaps it’s been a while since you had some specialized coaching! If you have never been in a single but you have rowing experience through summer or adult programs, this is your chance!

Registration closes at midnight on Thursday for the following week.

Timeslots start at 6am; last session ends at 8:30pm.

$200 per athlete per week

Special requests and family rows

Saturdays and Sundays in June are available for private lessons, family rows, and special requests. We think we’ve thought of a lot, but if you have an idea of how to row safely with social distancing and sanitation rules—let us know! Depending upon the number of people in your household and those who do or do not already know how to row, we could do private sessions for singles, doubles, quads or coxed quads. We are happy to talk with you about special situations. These sessions will be priced appropriately based on the duration, equipment, and staff time needed. Please email us to inquire.
