ISSA National Invitational Tournament: May 25th-26th
The National Invitational Tournament Regatta started in 2009 as a way to promote team racing among high school sailing other teams. Since NESSA had a strong back ground in team racing, they combined with the two districts on their boarders to create an event for those teams that just missed out on the Baker National Team Racing Championship. The first NIT was held in Rochester, NY. The winner of the NIT receives the Founders Trophy, a permanent trophy donated by the coaches from the three remaining schools that started high school sailing - Tabor Academy, St. George's School, & The Hotchkiss School. The hope was to further the interest in intersectional team racing which today has gained great popularity across the country.
