YOUTH PROGRAMS

Welcome to Spring Rowing at the Foundry.

Progression through our program is on an individual level so that we may coach and develop each athlete on an individual level. Our team of full and part time coaches are here to help your athlete have a comprehensive whole-student-athlete experience in the sport of rowing.

Our program schedule is responsive to all of the various school schedules in our area. Our coaches will work with you to determine which practice days work best for you.

HIGH SCHOOL ROWING/ CLEVELAND FOUNDRY JUNIORS
Grades 9-12

The Cleveland Foundry Juniors (CFJ) Team is committed to building skill, strength, and fitness. Be prepared to strengthen your foundational skills in sculling (two oars) and challenge your strengths as we transition into sweep boats (one oar). Whether you are a returning athlete or new to the sport, and interested in rowing competitively or recreational, we operate and tailor an individualized training plan that assists each athlete with both their individual and team goals.

The CFJ team hosts both High School and Middle School student-athletes during the same practice time. Athletes will warm-up and build foundational skills together, before transitioning into breakout groups contingent on skill level.

 

High School student-athletes are required to attend practice an average minimum of 3 days per week to be eligible for racing. They are permitted to practice up to 6 days a week. In an effort to increase accessibility to our robust program, student-athletes may choose which days of the week they will attend to provide more flexibility in their schedules.

Monday to Friday 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Saturday 7:30am - 9:30am

MIDDLE SCHOOL / INTRODUCTORY ROWING
Grades 6-8

This team teaches new and developing rowers sweep rowing (one oar) and sculling (two oars). The middle school team focuses on developing good rowing technique, improving fitness, and understanding water safety in a fun and supportive environment. This introductory level prepares athletes to row at the high school level. Athletes can practice up to 3 times per week.

Monday / Wednesday / Friday 5:30pm - 7:30pm
